November Monthly Meeting:
Hello, Hello Everyone! I hope that everyone had a very Happy Thanksgiving!!! Just wanted to touch base with everyone to fill you in our on November Monthly Meeting. For this month Nicki and I welcomed organic farmer Lynn Brucato. Lynn and her husband, Chuck, started and now run Circle B Certified Organic Farms in Lyons, New York. Lynn was had a wealth of information to share about the benefits of eating organic and tips when looking for a certified organic farmer. For example, did you know its a 3 year process to become a certified organic farmer? The Brucato's farm is apart of the North Eastern Organic Farmers Association(NEOFA)!. Lynn shared with us the differences between being apart of the NEOFA verses being a Farm Pleadged Farmer. Lynn was even kind enough to gives us some tips on what to look for at your own farmer's market and gave us a couple of her favorite organic recipes she enjoys making, sharing and eating with her family!
Lynn shared with us what she uses as an ulternative for peticides and how we can make it at home for our own personal use: In a jug of hot water combine crushed garlic cloves and strained cyeanne pepper (tied in a cheese cloth). Let this sit for a couple days and then transfer into a spray bottle. Lynn said that this mixture will keep just about anything away from what you have planted in your garden. However, if it rains you will need to respray the garden. Also, make sure you really wash your fruits and veggies prior to eating.

October Meeting:
Hello Friends! We had a wonderful and informative meeting on Monday, October 26th, thanks to our co-leader Nicki LiVecchi!!! Nicki is very passionate about educating other families about what toxins are located in our homes and what we can do to prevent them so our families can live and grow in a healthy, green environment. She also shared with us some cheap ways of making common house hold cleaners that will not harm your little ones and will still get the job done! WooHoo! Who would have ever thought that a little white distilled vinegar can go such a long way when it come to cleaning our homes! So not only is green cleaning better for our families it will also help us to save money, especially with the current state of our economy. Both Nicki and I, are looking forward to seeing all of you at next months meeting!!! Hope that everyone had a Safe and Happy Halloween!
